Hi,
I'm not sure I'm doing this weaning thing right or not! My 7mth DS only really likes porridge, biscuits and oatcakes! If I give him anything more adventurous he sprays it all over me and gets v cross! He also loves his milk and drinks 2 bottles a night.......

So what?

Zavi · 26/05/2013 00:52

Do you want other people to comment on his diet or what? By 7 M you should be well into "weaning"

If you are only just weaning now then give your DC the same foods as the family. If they "spray them all over you" so what - go with it. Keep giving them family foods...unless you want a fussy eater.

My DS is also 7m and BLW, he's not really eating much yet, he usually has 2 meals a day at the moment, sometimes 1, sometimes 3 Grin... He gums, plays, squishes, feeds the dogs and occasionally eats something at the moment! We try to offer a real selection so it's weetabix, porridge, toast, fruit, yoghurt, rice cakes for brekkie, sandwiches, omelette, soup, fish, beans on toast, muffins, oatcakes with nut butter, leftovers from dinner at lunch and whatever we're eating at tea time - pizza, stew, curry, toad in the hole, roast dinner if he's still up. We give fruit at every meal and water - we cook everything from scratch so there's nothing he can't have. Does that help? Grin

My DS (7.5 months) had:

7am - 8oz milk
9am - weetabix and full fat milk and about a third of a banana
12pm - thai chicken curry & rice, rasins & yogurt
2.30pm - 7oz milk
5pm - Pasta with cheese and tomato sauce, breadsticks and apple
7pm - 8oz milk.

He's on the 75th for weight and off the chart for height if that matters? Is there something you need help with? How long have you been weaning for?

dd is 7 months today

4am breastfeed
7 ish yogurt and strawberries
8 ish bf
11 ish bf
12 some chicken off the bone, half a plum tomato, some avocado mashed onto a rice cake.
2 bf
4 bf
6 ish some curry made with white fish, lentils, spinach and spices followed by some pear.
7 bf
10 bf
lots of this ends up on the floor and plenty is spat out and some is eaten.

I just give a version of whatever we're having or just some protein and veg. her absolute favorite foods are tomatoes, strawberries, yogurt and spicy things like lentil daal. I wouldn't worry about jaw much he eats at their stage but I would try and introduce him to different flavours and textures to explore.

Thanks for the helpful posts, it's helpful to know what others are doing. Zavi I don't think its polite to reply 'so what' to a post!!

My DD has just turned 8 mo so a little ahead but yesterday had:

  1. 6oz bottle

07.45. Blubbery wheats (prob about 5 but didn't finish it) with formula, slice of toast.

11.30. 1/2 a pouch of ella's kitchen salmon risotto and a hipp organic fruit pot. (she had just dropped her 11:00 bottle hence the earlier lunch)

15:00ish. slice of toast with marmite and 6 oz bottle.

18:30 6oz bottle. shredder BBQ chicken mixed with some potato and mashed veg. 2 onion rings.

I know a lot of people would leave bigger gaps between food and bottle but it doesn't work for us (especially at dinner). She also had a couple of apple rice crackers but I can remember when lol.

The only differences to 7mo are:
Breakfast would have more likely been fruit & baby rice from a pouch instead of the wheats.
11:00 would have preceded 12:00 luck.
15:00 no snack with bottle.
Amounts may have been a tad smaller.

I might be worth noting I started to give her tastes at 4 months so by 6 months she was well into the swing of it. We do a mixture of spoon and BLW. She generally gets what we eat mashed up or cut down to size.
