First foods?

Wanting to start introducing solids to my DS (5m) before I go back to work (shift worker so meal time will be inconsistent). What first foods did you all use? So far he has played with chopped up banana and mushed apple mixed with his milk. He's not put anything in his mouth yet, but I'm hoping that him playing with it and watching me eat some will get him interested.

Hi eggs

DS has played with steamed brocolli and carrot so far. The consensus is carrot is good for squooshing between your fingers and brocolli can cover a very large surface area as all the little bits come apart when your smear it across the highchair tray. The brocolli got a quick luck, but so far that is our adventures with food! tbh I don't expect him to eat anything for ages but he was keenly watching us eat a roast so I thought I'd let him join in

Hello IsThat! Have you given them as chunks/sticks or mush?

(We were sleeping for the past month through until 3days ago, so had no time to catch up with December 2012 :( )

Sticks are good. Much easier for them to pick up and play with/ put in their mouth.

You can break a banana into sticks too. Avocado is good.

Something like a rice cake is probably nice on their gums.

I've just given sticks (off my plate) as he seemed interested. I'm very lazy going to do BLW !
