Alternative to sandwiches?

My ds2 is 19 months and is a great eater but not that keen on sandwiches (made with any filling), I'm hoping in the summer, fingers crossed we get one, to have lots of days out involving picnics, but don't know what to put in place of sandwiches for him, any help would be great.

Thanks.

My two like wraps with pretty much any filling. Or what about stuffed pittas?

Savoury muffins. Dd will destroy a sandwich is 2 seconds flat with none of it going anywhere near her mouth. Or no crust quiche made in silicon muffin trays?

How about little patties?

You could do home made sausage rolls.
Crackers with hummous/cheese spread/pate anything else spreadable.
You could try making pizzas and seeing how they taste cold.
Rice cakes again with speadable things on top.
You could try some cheese topped bread was the only type of bread my dd would eat at one time. You can give grapes with it. Dd would often just have some bits of cheese, bit of ham and grapes/tomatos for lunch (not keen on other salad). Then a banana for desert to fill her properly.

Keep trying with the sandwhiches dd eventually got there.

Wrap bread scattered with grated cheese and whatever is spare in the kitchen eg: ham, baby spinach, cooked chicken, grated red pepper...fold in half, nuke in microwave, cool and cut with scissors into slices-yum!

My 12 month old like oatcakes smothered in hummus and topped with cucumber or tomato.

My ds 22 months isn't keen on sandwiches either but will eat a cheese sandwhich dunked in tomato soup. I just take it in a flask and find this works well.
