Cows milk from a bottle no problem, cows milk from a cup BIG problem!

DD has gradually switched to cows milk. She will drink this from a bottle til the cows come home , but refuses it from a cup. I've tried several cups free flow, non spill, open cups! She will happily drink water from any cup or glass. Should I just stick to bottles for the milk and not worry about it? HV's voice ringing in my ears 'she really should be drinking from a cup only, bottles are bad for her teeth'

Have you tried a normal straw? Also - there's a nuby cup with a soft spout that's quite similar to a bottle which might help the transition. Its the only thing that worked with DS

How old is she? Ds was a year exactly. He refused point blank on day 1 but on day 2 he took it no probs and was happy so maybe just go cold turkey and don't offer bottle as alternative? Not the approach for everyone I realise!

She is just over 1, initially didn't like cows milk. Had a face like she'd sucked a lemon the first few times I tried her with it! So we had to mix it with her formula gradually increasing the cows milk in the mix, she is now taking all cows milk and seems to like it. Unless its in a cup that is, then I get screwed up eyes, a mouth clamped shut and a shaking head when she knows its milk in the cup instead of water. Thanks alien might give the nuby cup a try. She hasn't quite got the straw concept yet but will keep trying with this too

If u find a cup that works let me know as 16mo DS is still refusing a bottle for milk

How much milk/how often is she having milk?if its just a bottle morning and night and the rest of the time she drinks water from a cup i really wouldnt worry, just make sure you clean teeth before bed etc.

Have you tried straw cups?

DS was a bottle refuser and never drank much through a sippy cup but lurves his straw cup.

5madthings she takes a bottle mid morning, one mid afternoon before her nap, then one for bed (6oz, 6oz and 8oz). I always brush her teeth before bed much to DH's amusement as she still only has 2 teeth Ideally I would like to cut out one of those bottles so have been offering her snacks and milk in a cup, she'll eat the snack then cry & scream until she gets milk in a bottle. Having had a snack she may only take 4oz of the milk, she likes her grub! I have bought a starter nuby cup that teaches them to drink from a straw so going to give that a go. However the beaker is clear so I'm sure as soon as miss eagle eyes spots the white liquid it'll be a point blank refusal! I wonder would mixing cows milk with water work? Gradually increasing the milk.........

Honestly i wouldnt worry at her age! Just gradually cut down the amount of milk in the bottle you want her to drop. And iffer her a snack and drink of water instead. From 12mths she should be having min 12oz of milk a day but that can include cheese and yogurt as well.

Some kids never drink milk.once they stop.having breast or bottle ie my ds1 and ds3 but they have milk on cereal and eat cheese, yog, custard etc.

Ds2 bfed till almost four years and its only now at almost 11 that he will drink milk and even then not very often.

Two or three bottles a day is fine assuming she doesnt walk around all day with the bottle in her mouth you are cleaning her teeth and she eats well so i wouldnt worry about transfering milk ftom bottle to cup, she will grow out of it gradually.

I had this with my ds2 but he was 16m at the time. I put milkshake mix in the milk in his beaker thing and reduced the amount of mix over a week or so and now he drinks milk just fine out of his beaker.
