Drinking - started weaning

Stupid question but can u give tap water to a 25 wk old who has just started weaning? I have bought a first sips cup - do I need to sterilise it?

My hv told me that from 6 months you don't need to sterlise.

Just make sure everything is washed in hot soapy water.

Tap water is also fine
