BLW - tidy diner ends up on the floor, now what?

Up until DS has been quite happy eating from his tidy diner (wooden table so it doesn't stick down properly), ah but no more. Now he rolls it up, chews it, flips it, throws it and basically its driving me mad. I've been putting his food straight on the table but he drops it everywhere. Not a chance I could give him a plate, suction bowls no use bloody table again. Should I just buy a new table and be done with it? I've got a tripp trapp highchair and I'm sure the trays are really expensive, any ideas please?

Might be no good for you, but I give DD her food on one of those white plastic chopping boards - you know the ones that are a bit translucent white? Whilst she'll fling trays, bowls etc, for some reason the chopping board never moves. Don't know if it's just too hard to get her fingers under to pick up, or maybe because it's large she doesn't realise it's not part of the table?! Maybe this too one day will get flung, but so far it's worked (dd is 9mo)

Could you get a plastic table cover? Maybe it would stick to that?

And borrow a dog to help with the mess :o

I"very bought a plastic placement from a pound shop and blue tacked it to the table. Ds eats straight from that. I tried every suction bowl on the market too but this has been working for a few months now. He does sometimes manage to pull it off but generally he finds the food more interesting.

We've got a Tripp trapp and a wooden table. When DS started out we just put food straight on the table. We had the same problem with a tinny diner- just wanted to lift it up and look underneath. Our table looks well worn now with all the extra wiping at DS's end and now a lot of fork marks too where he's been stabbing the table!

:)
Chopping board and a dog it is then. Our chopping boards are those big massive wooden ones, he'd break my foot if he launched it. Will go back to poundshop and look for placemats and chopping board, was only in there yesterday buying treasure basket goodies but I'll head back.
I dont mind table being trashed (the polish has long gone now) but at least with tidy diner he would sit and carefully pick up what he'd dropped, now its all over the bloody place. turned my back for a second yesterday and he'd tipped the yogurt all over the table and was smearing it everywhere

Swivel i have a vision of your DS launching this massive cutting board [grin}
as for the yoghurt-don't worry,you're not alone,my DS is not getting the strawberries until he's at school! he smeared it all over his head
