Hi, my DD is 4 1/2m so in around 6 weeks I will be starting to wean/give solids. I'm starting to look into more and there is so much different information and different ways of doing it. I've read on here about not giving jars and just going straight onto solids and many other opinions. So I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good books that give a lot of information about a few different ways.

Or any tips.

Thanks

There's an NHS guide on the NHS website, and take a look at this site and the Baby Led Weaning book by Gill Rapley.

It's pretty easy, 6 months, offer them a bit of what you've got (even if it's hard/messy) and just remember no honey until 12mo, cut grapes in half lengthways and no whole nuts until they're about 5. Other than that, anything goes (unless there are allergies in the family!)

I found the Annabel Karmel books useful as a guide rather than to follow every single recipe/step. Lots of easy recipes and talk about the different types of food groups and what order to introduce certain types of food.

Cow's milk is fine in cereal, cooking, yoghurts, cheese etc from 6 months, just not as a "main drink" til 12 months.

DS has the occasional cup of cows milk (he's not yet 1) - his main drink is still formula.
