Baby with cold and teething doesn't want food or milk

DS 9mo has a horrid cold and a tooth coming through. He was eating three meals per day and having 600ml expressed bm. Since last Sunday he has resisted most attempts at feeding and only wants to eat toast, breadsticks and dry biscuits. He is only taking around 450ml milk too. I have taken him to Dr but he just said so long as he is taking something not to worry. I have been offering his normal porridge/soup/stew type meals then giving in and giving toast as he will at least eat a little of that. carry on the same? Any other suggestions?

I cant help am afraid but i am going though the same thing with my DS 7 months old. So i am watching with interest.

I have found his bottles have had to be little and often again and he needs teething gel about 15 mins before I offer him food as I think the spoon hurts his gums.

will try teething gel before food. he just takes one look at the spoon and sticks his lips together and bounces his head about in protest.

I also had to introduce a highchair toy so he was distracted and took the food and then removed it and he was aware the food wasn't hurting him now. However am back to square one though due to teething

Just keep giving milk and cool things like yoghurt, rice pudding. 450ml is not too bad in the short term so don't be too concerned. Maybe try to give water too to prevent dehydration.

Thanks Jayne we tried the toy (DH's iPhone) and dancing around singing to him whilst launching the soon at him but to no avail. Redandwhitesprinkles he hates yoghurt and I tried cold porridge today. He seems scared of the spoon so maybe it is just hurting his teeth. Could the bottle teet be doing that too as it doesn't explain why he won't take his milk. I offer water regularly in the daytime.
