10 month old off his bottle but likes sippy cup

Hi there,

My 10 month old DS had a cold last week. He was very snuffly and found taking his milk via bottle very uncomfortable. Now that he has recovered he is more/less refusing to take him milk in the bottle full stop. However, he will happily take sips via his Tommee Tippee sippy cup (free flow one). He also takes water with his meals via the sippy cup.

Obviously, he doesn't take as much milk via the sippy cup as he would from the bottle, so I am slightly worried about his daily formula intake. He eats 3 meals a day without any problems (including yoghurts/fromage frais/rice pudding/anything else milky + I grate cheese on top of his savoury meals), drinks water fine, has snacks in-between meals (with water), it's just the milk via the bottle that he (all of a sudden) has a problem with.

I was wondering if that's him weaning himself off the bottle? I was gearing myself up for trying to wean him off the bottle when he reaches 12 months but it seems that the opposite is now true. I would be glad to hear of anyone who has had similar experience.

I'm going to say go with what he wants. It's really not worth it for the sake of 8 ish weeks and he's obviously learning how to take more from the cup. My daughter started off with 2-4 oz of milk at first but has it full to the brim now. He's having lots of milky foods too which will up his calcium intake. I may well be totally wrong though!

Just go with it and give him the cup :) many have so much trouble dropping the bottle and he's done it for you! :)

Thanks guys, I will go with the flow. It just threw me as I wasn't expecting this at all! :)
