Just a quick question really, may seem silly but im worried!

Is it true babies gums are as hard as teeth? Im still worried to give dd certain finger foods as im worried she will choke as she has no teeth to chew things with.

She does eat finger foods at the minute, toast, fruit and veg, pasta etc but want to start offering her a wider range of things.

Sorry if my question seems silly but im petrified incase she chokes on something!

She will be fine and if she can manage toast, she can manage most things.

If you are worried about choking I really recommend taking a Paed first aid course. Try your local children's centre, British Red Cross or St. John's ambulance.

If you want to try her on some more finger food, try things like a banana, cheese straws, or a sandwich. Even eggy bread with plums or berries would be nice.

My DD had no teeth until she was 15months old. I used to feed her the same things as the rest of the family.

She used to struggle to take bites out of apples and raw carrots, but had no problems with chewing them with her gums if they were already in pieces. I suppose it just became her norm.
