So my 12 week old son was 9lb born and breast fed till 6 weeks and I couldn't carry on as he was feeding every 2 hours day and night. Switched to bottle and he's on hungry baby and has 7-8 7oz bottles still every 3 hours. So last week I gave him baby rice before bed still no longer between feeds so now he has breakfast lunch and dinner plus all of his bottles and water inbetween. Is my son impossible to fill up? He's already 16lb10

I have had 4 DCs and tried various methods with all of them. I can honestly say that feeding them more, or hungry baby formula, or solids, didn't make a blind bit of difference to sleep or gap between feeds.

They will find their own routine and stop waking up through the night when they are ready to. Stick with just milk, and let him sort himself out.

You are risking your baby's health by giving anything but milk this early. Please see your HV.

Hey op, is he a refluxy baby by any chance? I ask as its been put on MN several times that reflux babies suck alot as it helps there throats feel better from
The burning and the acid. Could he just be wanting to constantly eat to soothe his throat?

12 weeks is early there's a good chance this is a growth spurt and will be over soon. You have at least five weeks til it is safer to start thinking about weaning. Could you enlist the help of your dp so u can stagger feeds and get a bigger block of rest in between?

Please don't use hungry baby milk as it screws up the feeding routine unwill end up feeding more often as they take less of it and it just bungs up
Their system.

Agree with fliss. Does distraction work when he's grisly? Have you tried feeding smaller bottles more often?

Feeding every 2 to 3 hours is normal and there is nothing wrong with your DS. It's your dd who was the odd one.

definitely try smaller bottles more often.

Also agree that the hungry baby milk contains the same calories as first stage but the take it less often, so the result is that over 24 hours they take less calories than they need and are more hungry, not less.

The babyrice will have the same affect so if you want him to be less hungry, please give him more formula, not less Smile
