What age for peanut butter?

I know you shoudn't give peanuts under 5 due to choking hazard, but at what age can they have the butter (with regards to allergies etc), as dd (4) loves it and I was wondering if I could give it to ds (16 months).

As far as I remember, the advice when dd was little was that it could be given from 12 months - but it should be the smooth stuff, not lumpy.

yeah i have given it to ds from 12 months.,... not that he likes it much, more's the pity
