I want to start to wean ds at 6 months but on calendar months it' ll be a week before we go on holiday with dh' s family for a week. I'm not sure about such early days away from home with ds in unfamiliar surroundings and mainly as my mil will have endless ' helpful' advice criticisms as imagine she' ll be anti any BLW . Do I just hold out till we get back? or do I man up an do it anyway? Also feel pressure as sil has similar aged child

What about just giving him bits of your foods when you eat while you are away for him to play with - just include him in your mealtimes.

Please dont let her criticism get to you.

Yes that' s all we'd be doing at that point - part of me just wants to avoid giving her fuel to stick her nose in while we' re away if that makes sense. I know I should just go for it and ignore her

Your MIL might be fine. Babies have always eaten off their parents' plates! I wouldn't discuss it or draw attention to it though.
