I was chatting to my partners mum the other day & somehow the topic of weaning came up. I said we were quite up for baby led and when she asked what that meant I described it.

Horrified silence

'You know S [my partner] choked on a piece of apple once and it was awful. I mean he literally DIED!'

O.o

Thank god she was on the phone so she couldn't see me desperately suppressing the urge to laugh or say 'well I've always found him quite cold it has to be said...'

I love a bit of melodrama.

Like babies never choke on purees! Try googling youtube baby led weaning chicken leg. A video of a 6 month old scoffing a chicken leg should come up. Can I be there when you show it to her please? Grin

She'll probably be hovering over your shoulder with a spoon of baby rice and a phone to call an ambulance.

Dd did blw and it was so much easier than when I weaned DS on purees. The Dparents were all a bit sceptical but when I say dd did the blw weaning I really mean it. She had been grabbing food for a bit, at 23 weeks she took a sandwich and I couldn't face the tears if I took it from her. She wolfed it down and weaning was done Smile

Once the Dparents saw her eating, and we'd explained how the thrust reflex disappears and the chewing and swallowing develops they were all really proud.

Hope you get the same luck Smile
