We're about to start weaning and need a highchair - is there anything I should be looking for, any particularly good ones? Budget is not a problem God bless grandparents

DD's grandparents bought her a TrippTrapp (by Stokke), it's great! There isn't a tray, she just pulls up to the table where there's a tray stuck down (it's supposed to make them feel more integrated into mealtimes or something). It will also become a non-highchair chair for her when she gets older. I think IKEA do their own version of them too...

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 11/01/2013 17:12

I don't care that it is cheap, Ikea's antilop is amazing!

OrchidFlakes · 11/01/2013 17:54

I think we'd need a tray late as we have a farmhouse work table as a table so he couldn't sit under it (weird height hate the stupid thing but landlord won't let us get rid of it even though its seen better days )

What do you love about the ikea one miffy?

I'm looking at the mammals and papas Loop but worried as its pod shaped DS may grow out of it before its served its time?

Oxo from amazon. V easy to clean. Dd loves it. Fun colour and good order accessories too cutlery etc. love love it!

Ikea Antilop is great. Very basic, but good. Solid plastic seat is easy to clean, legs come off making it easy to store or transport. And it's only about £14.

Liking the oxo lac. I like the antilop too but I think I want something to last a bit longer...

Another fan of the antilop here. Nice simple design, and easy to keep clean. And so cheap!

MrsHoarder · 11/01/2013 18:10

Antilop: easy to wipe down (or shower) a good shape to hold babies in as soon as they can sit up (unlike some wooden ones which DS was always nearly slipping down one leg of) and easy to take the legs off if having adult guests in the evening or to take to grandparents.

MrsHoarder · 11/01/2013 18:11

Oh and when DS is a bit older he will ahve a chair which matches ours, not an odd "child chair"

Locketjuice · 11/01/2013 18:12

Cosatto 360 its amazing spins around and goes up and down like a bar stool :)

neontetra · 11/01/2013 18:12

What we did was take dd to lots of cafes and tea-rooms, in order to try different models. Antilop worked best for her.

OrchidFlakes · 11/01/2013 19:37

Great idea neon

We have a Tripp Trapp at home and an Antilop at my parents - both are great but the Tripp Trapp seems to have more longevity (and doesn't shout LOOK AT ME I'M A HIGHCHAIR)
