I;ve got the Anabel Karmel book and am weaning DS who is now 7 months. The veggie ones have all gone down a treat and I want to move on to meat and chicken. However, I really don't want to make chicken stock from scratch - no time or inclination. What can I use as an alternative to this type of stock?

I used to just add water or milk at that age.

There are some good organic ones but the problem is they all contain salt which I guess you'd want to avoid until lo is about 1 yr old.
All I did was make loads of that veggie stock and only made the chicken one if we actually had roast chicken for dinner and then used the leftover carcass.

I've made some of the AK chicken recipes and i just use water and find it's still really tasty from the juices in the chicken breast/thigh that your using. Life is too short to make stock from scratch in my opinion and DD still loves it Wink

I did the same as Coolmama and used the veggie stock which is easy to make, or just plain water.

I think you can get low salt vegetable stock cubes, by Kallo I think - I've never seen it in supermarkets though - keep meaning to check out our local health food shop but haven't got round to it yet.
