Snack ideas/dairy alternatives for a 8month old

Hi all

I appreciate some ideas for dairy alternatives and snack ideas for my 8month old.
The hospital have been no use and I'm still waiting to see a dietician.
I asked the paed if he could have shelf soya milk on cereal and other things and he said no only soya formula!? Which I questioned as babies can start having blue top cows milk at his age!?
I use vitalite marg/butter on toast and in mash so has been a success in that way.
I'm just stuck for other ideas now.
Also being a first time mum I get worried about him choking as he chokes on small things such as broccoli tree on Xmas day :/
And gags alot which I no is normal but still frightens me!
So if anyone could be of help please as I'm worried now he isn't getting enough calcium!
Thank you!

I'm sure it's no soya milk at that age. They shouldn't have normal milk either other than as a cooked ingredient.

Are you giving the dairy free formula? If so, I wouldn't worry.

Sesame seeds are really high in calcium, so if you make some hummus with tahini, that would be a great snack.

Green vegetables.

I think my DD can't handle dairy very well either (11months) so I'll be watching this thread. She is, however, breastfeed so no worries with the whole formula issue.

MrsHuxtable cow's milk is fine on cereal.

Soya milk though is considerably lower in fat and calories than cow's milk and I think it's probably not a good substitute - it would bring down the calorie density of the cereal to really quite meagre. It's not the same as cow's milk - it would be more the same as skimmed milk, which is also not advised for babies for the same reason.

There's always kara for cereal and cooking. Or almond milk. They slightly higher in fat. What about nut butters on toast, fruit sticks, avocado, home made bread sticks, French toast,
