Guacamole? Advocado mashed with tomatoes, pinch of chilli pepper (for adventurous babies!), teeny dash of lime juice, creme fraiche or natural yogurt. Yummy but doesn't keep well. Humous is dead easy to make - tin chickpeas, small garlic clove, 1/2 tbsp tahini if using (that's the sesame component), juice of half a small lemon, pinch of cumin, 1 tbsp yogurt.

Also: nut butters (not peanut, but the almond one is nice) if you're not worried about that kind of thing. And DS's all-time top favourite that his mean old mummy won't give him nearly often enough: concentrated apricot, pear & apple spread (from H&B) topped with cream cheese. It's very sweet but is just fruit & has no added sugar or additives.

dairylea is BARF. buy a can of cannellini beans. whizz in the blender w/a few sprigs of rosemary, a little garlic and some olive oil. grate over some parm cheese.

now THAT is a dip for bread sticks.
