Tofu

Can you give babies tofu? All I get when I Google it are scaremongering Americans who also clearly have different weaning advice to the UK. I'm guessing by the number of babies on soy formula that it can't be that evil...?

Having stir-fry tonight so rapid responses appreciated Grin

I think that it's one of the first foods they give babies in Japan, if I'm not mistaken. Just check for added salt if it's marinated or something.

Never occurred to me not to give my babies tofu, so I did.

Only thing is I like it with lots of salty soy sauce

I did kind of think that several million Japanese can't be wrong...

The soy babies are given in Japan is fermented, the worry is about unfermented soy. Personally, I'd give my LO tempeh but not soy milk, tofu etc. Ultimately though, it's up to you to decide what is best for your little one if you have read the literature.

tofu is not fermented in Japan, and all babies are weaned on it.
nice and soft and bland - perfect weaning food.

I gave my two fermented soy beans too (natto), chopped up and mixed with mash potato. YUM!
