Baby won't drink anything!

My baby won't drink anything other than milk from her bottles. She's 8 months and I've been persevering for the last two months, offering her water and juice at mealtimes from Tommee Tippee beakers. Very occasionally she takes a sip - perhaps once a day with a meal - and then bats the beaker away. But mostly I can't get her to drink anything at all! She doesn't have many wet nappies, so I'm worried she's not getting enough fluids. I've tried putting water in her normal bottle and she won't take it. I've tried letting her sip from an open cup, but she doesn't want to know. I've even tried giving her water on a spoon! Anything I can do? Would appreciate any thoughts...

Our childminder puts more water into ds's food if she feels he is not drinking enough.

As a last resort for a sick child we've used the syringes that come with baby Nurofen, Calpol etc.
Doesn't make us their friend, but effective.

Have you tried drinking from a cup, showing some pleasure, and then "letting" her have some ?

But given that she's drinking milk, I'm not sure I would be very worried unless/until the weather gets very hot.

My DS1 hardly took any water until he was about 14-15mths, somes had hardly anything to drink in day time, even in summer... i worried to but he seemed fine in himself. drinks lots water now from tommie tipee beaker and cups. Just keep offering the beaker at meals and other times in hot weather, Your baby will get hydration from food and milk.

Actually that's a good point re the food. Hadn't thought of what she might be absorbing from that. Will try her on watermelon, as a cunning ploy! Grin
