Anybody else ignored hv & started at 4 months

I have weaned all mine at 4months but now getting ready to wean youngest at 17 weeks and I am in trouble with hv. He has gone from bf every 3-4hrs to every 1 1/2! I cant keep that up for another 2 months.
Anyone else?

My HV wasn't bothered that I wanted to wean early - actually thought it would be better due to terrible reflux. she even gave us a weaning spoon and cup!

Although - weaning at 4 months is not really meant to replace milk feeds....my LO was only on a couple of teaspoons of puree a day until he was 5 months when he moved onto more and 'proper' food.

He's going through a growth spurt probably. Have you tried either expressing after feeds to up your supply or giving him some formula/expressed milk to give you a rest?

I didn't have a hv so did it when I saw fit. If you think he's ready then give it a whirl. I cannot see a problem with baby rice and breast milk

I haven't tried expressing after feeds, will give that a go. I will also buy some baby rice today. Thank you. you learn something new every time.

Him feeding more will up your supply. You don't need to express on top. It's why he's feeding so much. Once growth spurt is done it should settle down again.

I started at 14 weeks and mine love it! It's a guide what they say you have to do what is right for you and your baby (every baby is different)

With dd1 I was encouraged by Hv at the time to start weaning at 4mnths even tho I didn't really think she was ready
With dd2, I was emphatically told I must wait untill 6mo, even tho dd2 was reaching out and trying to steal my mashed potato!
Listen to your baby!
