..And feeds ALL NIGHT like a newborn. He is really massive - 99th centile last time he was weighed and EBF. I had thought of doing BLW this time, but he picks up everything EXCEPT FOOD and puts it in his mouth. So now I have been trying purees but he leans over and clutches on to me while biffing them away. He couldn't be clearer: "I want MILK, not THIS!" My Mum thinks I am too soft and should reduce milk feeds so he is hungry, but I thought early stage weaning wasn't efficient at satisfying hunger, so not sure that would help. On the other hand, he is hungry about every hour during the day and similarly often at night and it is becoming a bit knackering! Should I just carry on taking it slowly, or is there a way of encouraging him to hurry up?!

TIA

You are exactly right, weaning at this age is more about exploring texture and taste rather than tanking them up.

As he is feeding so often during the night have a google of askdrsears, 12 alternatives for the all night nurser and also kellymom reverse cycling.

There is some evidence that delaying solids is beneficial, read kellymom why delay solids?, but if you are struggling with the frequency of feeds or need some reassurance from somebody qualified, and not just some random person ont'internet Grin, get in touch with your local La Leche League. They often do talks on weaning and the leader will be able to talk to you about your concerns.
