BLWers do you use bibs?

We started BLW last week, so much fun the other night we put a bib on her, this was not a popular decision! Do you use bibs or a coverall? I've only seen coveralls in Boots, is there anywhere else that sells them and are they sensible to use?

We used a bib or just stripped her to vestie. You can get coverall things in ASDA and tesco.

I just put a long sleeved t-shirt on him/changed his clothes after eating.

He'd drag the sleeves of the coveralls (painting ones, from Wilkinsons) through the food, or get food around the sides of the bib, so either just seemed to make more mess..

Yes. We used those long sleeve coverall thingies. I remember buying a couple of really cheap Christmas ones that lasted all year.

I used to turn them inside out so they were towelling on the inside and wipe clean plastic on the outside. A bit more comfortable for them to wear and you can get more uses out of them before washing.

I do 'traditional' weaning (mix of mushed up stuff and finger foods). I've had to start using coveralls as DD now refuses to be spoon fed and wants to do it herself as well as getting much more into finger food.

We got a couple from mothercare....they have a bit of the bottom that you can turn inside out to catch any falling bits.

Oh just remembered, even though I've always hated them I also put on one of those Tommee Tippee roll up, rubber bibs with the scoopy bit at the bottom.

This was so DS could retrieve things himself if he dropped them. It cut down a lot on the frustration he would experience when he had spent ages carefully picking up a pea only to drop it when it was just a millimetre from his mouth.

We got some great long sleeve ones from the pound shop of all places, they have proved far better and more popular then the expensive bibs and things we tried.

I love the Bibetta bibs on amazon. They are coverall types made of neoprene so just bung them in the sink, rinse them and they dry in a few hours on a draining board. So easy. They aren't hard (uncomfy) plastic like some, and they protect all his clothes.

I got a bibetta bib from boots yesterday, it's brilliant, she can retrieve bits and doesn't try to tear it off! Thank you for your suggestions.

Someone recommended ikea coverall to me.

We used pound shop coveralls too, which were great and I've washed and washed them for the last 18 months until they started to look a bit tatty. My dd is still a VERY messy eater so I got a few nice coveralls from IKEA which seem to wash well too.

I used SillyBillyz sleeved bibs, fleece-fronted and fantastic, with DS1. They are pricy but I got some second hand from an NCT sale and reckon they're worth even what they cost new...
That said, DS2 only uses/used them when he was wearing something particularly nice, didn't bother much otherwise.

I use the long-sleeve ones. They're ace. I tend to strap LO into the highchair first, then put the bib on, that stops food getting stuck to the high chair straps.

Ikea do packs of two long sleeved bibs for £3 or so. They're a bit flimsy and they velcro doesn't last forever, but they do the job - and at that price I'm not complaining!

I have the tesco long-sleeved ones and they do the job. I have the ikea ones too but they are too large still (dd is 9 months).

I might start using one with a lip over the top to catch bits... Unless there is a cheap one with sleeves and a lip that anyone can recommend?
