How to cut down milk feeds?

DS is 7 mo, and is still having 35-40oz of formula a day.

I'm doing BLW and assumed that he'd drop feeds by himself, but he still cries for a bottle every 3 hours ish.

I'm not sure what to do really, do I let him take the lead? He does seem to be eating a little of the solids he's offered, but it's hard to tell as I'm not spoon-feeding.

Keep giving milk and let him drop feeds. 7 months is still tiny.

Thanks, that's what I'd prefer to do, as I don't think I could deny him a bottle if he wants one!
