Tips to get my 1 yr old dd onto a cup please.

Wasn't sure whether to put this in the bf/bottle section but anyway!

DD was mixed fed until she was 10 months. She has a cup for her water which she's fine with.

She has been poorly for a while with one thing and another and she's just got over an s & d bug so i've been giving her a bottle to make sure she has enough fluids.

I have been trying on and off to give her a beaker for her milk but she just gets upset. I've tried the cup she has her water in, an avent beaker with a teat in and the spout thing. She doesn't like any really. Part of me thinks chill and she'll do it in her own time but I also think a beaker would be better for her (teeth etc).

Any tips please? I tried to go cold turkey with her this morning and leave her to it. She did try to have some. But unless I leave her with it all day, I don't think she'll get enough fluids in her!

Which type of beaker are you using? Some of the non spill ones are hard to suck, dd did'nt like the avent beaker, the only one she would drink from was one from tesco's which only cost 98p.

I tried and tried from about 12 months but he wasn't having any of it. I think he only had one bottle a day from 12 months and to be honest he had that until he was nearly 2. Always brushed teeth after the bottle so figured it couldn't be that bad. Good thing was when he gave it up it was really easy (he chose a special "big boy milk cup"). If I had my time again I'd leave him to it to be honest.

She's ok with the tommee tippee 1st cup. The avent one is easy to suck I think but is non-spill. I did buy a couple of tommee non-spill ones....forget it, even I find it hard to get a drink out of it Grin.

She can drink out of the 1st 2, though she's not that great in holding it tilting it enough to get the drink out iykwim. I think she just likes 'mummy' to give her her milk really.

so really, it's not really the problem of drinking from a cup it's more that she wants me to give it to her. I don't think she would even drink from her bottle herself tbh. Maybe I should try that 1st but I reckon most of it would end up on the floor.

My dd is 2.5 and still has milk in bottle, i need to address this and get with it to wean her off of it,
