any fruit or veg that can be cut into a vague chip shape (almost all of them)

broccoli, sweet pepper

peas when he can pick them up

green beans (can be a bit stringy but worth a try)

lettuce (ds loved flapping it about)

satsumas (cut the end off, or peel the segment to start with - they suck it dry)

cheese
sausages
sliced cold meat
chunks of chicken, beef etc (they chew and spit out to start with but still get something out of it)
fishfingers
pasta twirls with spag sauce stuck in the twirls

toast (with cheese spread, jam, melted cheese, butter...)
boiled / baked potato; chips
tagliatelle; lasagne; noodles (its amazing what they learn to pick up)

breadsticks
biscuits
rice cakes
cake
scone
hot cross bun

(by the way, that was the entire list of foods that my ds would eat at 10 months, except for weetabix and yoghurt which he deigned to eat off a spoon)

jmum6 · 28/03/2006 19:26

Thanks fruitful, our ds is only 7 months but will try lots of things from your list :)

a few dry cornklakes or rice crispies, or kallo rice puffs if you want sugar/salt free.

crackers

soft fruity bars from health shop

and now my mind as gone blank!

flapjack, raisins, breads, cheese. Recently gave her a jaffa cake roll, which was hilarious.

Loves eating omelette and I can stuff that full of tomatoes

ShaysMummy · 28/03/2006 22:51

toast, pizza, dairylea sandwich, hot cross bun, cucumber (cut thick enough and length ways so bits cant break off and get lodged) milky soggy bran flakes, chunks of melon anything they find on the floor...
:o

ds has only just cut his bottom two teeth at 8.5m so his food is not too interesting yet.

jmum6 · 29/03/2006 12:28

Thanks for all your suggestions girls. You should all write a book!

crumpets, roasted veg (carrots, beetroot, leek, parsnip, turnip, potato anything in the reduced section) keeps for days and goes down well when cold.
Baked beans
Rice mixed with dairylea and sweetcorn

When I get sick of the tantrum about having the spoon I usually end up tipping the contents of ds bowl onto his tray - would advise not to do this with chili as it stains! This is the one time in my life that I'm thankful of having a dog to sweep the floor.

Ds is 11 months on only has 2 teeth but manages to eat just about anything put in front of him - he even manages whole apples - don't let the tooth thing stop you from trying everything
