my dd was weaned slightly early ( lets not start on that point) and by 6 months was happily having 3 meals a day and at the end of each i would give her some finger food. mixed veg being her fav.

she took to all of this very well and by 8 months majority of food was finger fed.
but by 9 months point blank refused to be spoon feed. causing hell at meals.

we tried forcing the issue but that just led to screams and tantrums until we stopped, which she starting copying in all day to day activities.
so we stopped that and got back to a head shake and "na" for no more.
so we sometimes got 6 spoons in or sometimes not even one. but she was happier. and always ate her finger food.

the knock on effect being that when teething pains or mild illnesses woke her in the night she wouldnt just settle back with a quick cuddle, as she realised she wast full so ended up giving her a couple of oz's.
also 5.30 became a good time to get up apparently!!!

well we got a kitten on mothers day and since then she has let me spoon feed half her cereal and tea in while she watches him play.
she then happily trys to spoon the rest in herself ( getting about 1 in 10 spoonfulls actually making it in) then finishes off by finger foods.

then for the last 2 nights she has gone back to sleeping through till 7.30!!!

oh life is good.

im sorry its long and very boring but i am so happy about it, and highly recomend distraction as a way to go!!!
