Would just like a few new ideas for DD's dinner. Looking for things she can pick up and hold and that are quite substantial. I currently make her veggie nuggets, sweetcorn fritters, fishfingers and chicken fingers. I want a little more variety but am stuck for ideas. Thanks.

Can't do links at the moment but have a look on the nct shop website, there is a book called finger food for babies and toddlers, there are also some good recipes on the babyledweaning website.

How about things like Spanish omelette, falfalel or fish cakes?

The Babyled weaning cookbook is meant to be quite good.
Ideas that I have served:
little ricotta pancakes,
scrambled egg,
vegetable stew and dumplings
Tofu and veggie stirfry
crumpets or bread with nut butters

Bagels
All manner of sandwiches. Banana avocado or peanut butter or hummus are good cos they stay together
Baked eggs
Hard boiled eggs
Eggy bread
Pancakes
Toast
Baked beans
Pasta n pesto
Breadsticks n dip
Yoghurt n fruit
Soup with big chunks of bread dunked in it Smile

We had Nigella's Meatzza last night for tea, that would be perfect baby finger food Smile.

Falafel
Risotto balls
Chunky ratatouille
Beef/chicken/lamb casserole with big chunks of veg
Small fishcakes
Pasta (fusilli easiest to pick up) with tomato or cheese sauce
Pizza fingers
Strips of omelette (with mushrooms, ham, cheese...)
Small homemade meat patties/ burgers
Long green beans, asparagus, baby corn, carrot batons, broccoli/cauliflower florets etc, perhaps with cheese sauce

At 11 months she will probably have a good pincer grip and may enjoy picking up individual peas, sweetcorn kernels etc

Mine ate normal family food with their hands at this age.

Pasta is very popular, roast dinners are good, meatballs, sausages, salmon steaks, all sorts of fruit and veg, corn on the cob cut into chunks, chicken legs.

The only things I avoid is really sloppy stuff like soup, and custard. Otherwise, practically anything goes!
