Good finger foods tostart out with?

DS is 6 months old, has been happily having purees for the last month or so, and is showing all the signs of wanting to start 'feeding' himself. Any recommendations re good first finger foods to start out with? He doesn't have any teeth yet, but is definitely teething, and already has the occasional Heinz 'biscotti' biscuit (so cute watching him 'chew' it without any teeth! Like a little old manSmile)

Thanks, NM x

I started with the basics of sticks of vegetables that were easy to pick up i.e. carrot, cauli, broc etc. She also had sticks of fruit i.e. apple (just sucked it), banana, segments of orange etc. She loves sticks of cheese, pepper, bread/toast.

At 7 months she is now eating everything we eat, well I say that, alot of it goes on the floor, in her bib, everywhere really! She does try everything and although not all of it 'goes down', she has learnt the skill of feeding herself and is trying new foods daily. Just remember that he gets everything he needs from his milk at the moment so dont worry too much about what he actually 'gets down'

Good luck! HTH, x

Thanks for the suggestions. Stupid question, but are the veg sticks pre-cooked first?

I do cook my veg, apart from the pepper which she loves raw! HTH x

yes quite well done at first so they just really melt in the mouth, and then as you would eat them when he gets the hang of it
