is this normal? she picks them up chomps off little bits then either gags or spits them out doesn't get upset though. When did everyone lese lo's get the hang of finger foods?

she is 28 weeks BTW

should I carry on offering? she does seem excited to see them but maybe just because she thinks it is some great new toy!

sounds peefectly normal. My ds didn't have any lumpy food til baout 7/8 months. It takes a while for them to get the idea. I would keep offering though as it sounds like she's enjoying it!!

she is just develoing her reflux to cope with the lumps and the more she practises the more she will get used to them and the gagging should slowly dissapear

Furball · 21/03/2006 10:12

Don't worry - My ds couldn't tolerate lumps til he was 13-14 months, I was a dab hand at clearing up sick off the high chair table!

Just go back a stage and then try again in a few more weeks.

thanks for all the advice, think I will carry on offering as she is not upset by the gagging - and is actually sick (yet!). I was just a little concerned she is seeing the finger foods as new toys to play with! Alhtough maybe that doesn't matter

DS gagged up until a month, I think. He was 30 weeks by then. TBH, it disappeared so imperceptibly, we hardly noticed it going. If it's not distressing her, then I'd stick with it!
