If they are the very simple ones made with potato and sunflower oil, that should be fine.

I would avoid anything called 'fries' or 'home fries' etc, as they have been dipped in batter and flavourings and seasonings etc.

I agree with beansprout try him on sweet potato/potato wedges, roasted butternut squash etc.

Blu · 20/03/2006 18:35

But the firmness and 'graspability' of oven chips might help encourage him with finger food.

It's only potato and sunflower oil - wish I'd thought of them for ds at that age!

any boiled root veg will be fine, chunks of banana, bits of toast.

quicker than oven chips and imho it's worth getting babies used to "real" flavours rather than flavouring-flavoured processed food.

jodie1984 · 20/03/2006 18:37

ive tried veg and he just shoves the whole lot in and chokes and laughs he finds it very funny

meant processed as in the fries blu mentions, not basic oven chips.

cod · 20/03/2006 18:37

god yes

beansprout · 20/03/2006 18:38

I know it can be frustrating but it is all part of them learning what to do with food.

CarolinaMoon · 20/03/2006 18:39

well, he's obv enjoying it so I would keep going with what you're doing atm. He'll stop gagging on it soon Wink.

lovecloud · 20/03/2006 18:40

You can make your own chips by just slicing up potatoes and parsnips into chip shapes, place them on a oven tray, drizzle some veggie oil on top and pop them in your oven.

colditz · 20/03/2006 18:40

Chips were ds's first finger food. Let it never be said I am a food nazi!

jodie1984 · 20/03/2006 18:41

tbh i think he is just greedy, ive never known anything like him, i'm sure he has a bottomless stomach.
