Just wondered at what point you start to give the meal first and then the milk?? just about starting weaning so will be a while for me yet but the weaning class I went to didnt cover this

Are you breastfeeding? I think they just naturally drop milk feeds themselves as they eat more food. Certainly by 8 months ds was only really interested in bfing before and after naps. It's fine to just keep feeding on demand.

I dont think I ever did. With breakfast I started giving a cup of milk alongside the meal rather than an hour before. The other day feeds got dropped in favour of a snack and drink of water and we were left with just the breakfast milk and milk before bed.

e.g. from starting weaning until 8 months milk was at 7, 11, 3, 7 (plus 1 in the night) and meals at 8, 12 and 5. The night feed dropped at 8 months

at 9 months we had meals at the same times as above and milk at 7, 3, 7 plus a snack/water around 10.30am

at 11 months meals at 8, 12, 5, milk with breakfast and before bed and snacks mid-morning and mid-afternoon if required.

At the moment it is recommed to offer the milk an hour before feeds until they ar one, once they are one you can offer milk or a bf after solids. If you are ff you can ditch the formula and bottles at one anyway and just give 300ml of full fat cows milk per day.
