7.5 month old dd is now down to 10oz milk a day. she has a cold and up to 3 days ago was getting 20ozsa day plus 2 meals a day and weight gain was fine. now worried with lack ofmilk intake that wieght will start to drop???

what i can i do?

does substituting milk for say yogurt really make a difference and if so how much yogurt (danone baby) = how much milk

adding milk to foods doens't work because she likes food of a thick consistency

anyone been through this and got through to the other side without weight issuesSmile

I honestly wouldn't worry too much, she'll have less appetite for milk and solids with having her cold, and it'll sort itself out once she's over her cold. I would just concentrate on getting plenty of fluids (water/juice) down her, as that's best for her cold.

She will pick up her milk intake again. Just keep offering it. When they are feeding and have a cold they cant breath easily which is probably why her intake has dropped. Offer her lots of water as well. It wont hurt for a few days at her age.

If she hasnt picked up in a few days i would speak to the HV.

if she is not having much milk...only 5 ozs so far today...how much water/juice should she be having?

she is still soiling nappies okay and had porridge for breakfast and a yogurt and half a fruit tin for lunch. she has had about 4 ozs of water today so far.

milk intake is very low as you can see. i thought they went off solids when ill not milk?

I'd just keep offering - both milk and wter, like VVVQ says. A few days won't hurt her - they can go off solids and/or milk when they've got a cold. DS goes off both and almost certainly loses weight, but it's only a temporary thing and you'll probably find she'll eat and drink like a little glutton once she's feeling better again.

They're funny little things. My DS has really gone off his milk but won;t drink anything else either. Solids are fine but I can't understand why he's not thirsty. He'll only take a couple of ounces at a time. But then, he wakes up at night and demands milk which is infuriating.

What about offereing her more cheese based dishes or chees cubes as a snack?
