When to introduce lunch?

My DD is 18 weeks old and i started weaning 2 weeks ago on advice of the HV. I've been giving her baby cereal and fruit purées each morning for breakfast and now I'm just wondering when to introduce lunch as the next meal? Is there a set time or just when DC is ready?

Thank you in advance xx

When she's ready :)

Well I think she's ready now but I'm worried she's going to be fully weaned too soon! Silly I know!

Also regarding lunch when shall I give it to her? She has a milk feed at 12pm.

Advice is usually to try to give solids one hour after milk, so that the baby won't cut back too quickly on milk. Though unless you are in a set routine, this isn't always easy, DD got her food when I was feeding her older brother regardless of milk feeds, otherwise I would have been in the kitchen all day long.

18 weeks is still tiny, I wouldn't rush weaning unless there's a medical reason to do so.

Depends on why your HV suggested early weaning. I'd speak to her.

flisspaps the HV suggested early weaning because DD was showing all the signs apparently according to HV. Such as swiping at my food, putting everything in her mouth even out of teething periods, almost sitting up unaided and she's a really hungry baby too.

Thanks for the advice ladies Smile
