Finger Foods

I'm completely drawing a blank about finger foods. DS is 8.5 months and only very very recently has mastered the art of chewing food (still no teeth though) and eating finger food. I do the usual steamed veg (carrots, brocolli, cauliflower) and soft ripe fruit like peaches, as well as toast/bread, cheese sticks, rice cakes and those Organix puff things. But other than that, I am totally clueless about what to offer him!

I'm staying away from eggs at the minute, as he had a bit of a reaction to dairy when we first tried (although that seem to have passed after we stopped then reintroduced) and the HV and GP said to wait for anoher couple of months before trying.

So what are popular finger foods with your LOs? Need some inspiration!

Pasta. Always a winner in this house. Chunks of sausage, chunks of meat. Ds2 is nearly 11m and got his first tooth earlier on in the week but likes to chew on meat. Roast chicken, anything you eat really just put it infront of him and stand well back!! He eats some then throws it everywhere or ends up wearing it. Grin

Peeled halved grapes, rice cakes with peanut butter/philly/marmite on.

Boiled potatoes
polenta fingers (you can flavour with veg/cheese etc)
porridge fingers
toast fingers (lots of fingers!)
risotto rice balls (arancini?)

Blueberries are a big hit here and also strawberries, grapes, pieces of pear, apple, peach.
We find Ds eats whatever is plonked in front of him, as long as he's hungry! He likes picking up all sorts.
Ooh and Cheerios go down well in the morning.

Gnocchi, ravioli but maybe not the tinned stuff as the sauce might make it too slippy.

How do you serve gnocchi? It's the only thing ive given them so far which made me really nervous about choking, being both solid and slippery! They liked it though.
Fish fingers and sweet potato roasted in wedges are faves here.

Look on www.babyledweaning.com - even if you're traditionally weaning you should get some inspiration Smile

Just in either pasta sauce from a jar or tinned toms with onions and garlic. Wink

Thats if i dont eat it all first!! Blush

Avocado. She adores it. It's a bit messy sometimes if it's very ripe.

It's actually my 'oh hell I forgot to pack some food' food when we're out. I order something with avocado (there's usually at least two dishes, it's a national obsession here Grin) and give her the avocado while I eat the rest. Grin
