16 month old - ok to give snacky meals rather than 'proper' meals?

My 16 month old is going through a really fussy phase. Possibly getting his molars. He used to eat well (didn't they all...), but now he really only eats the following:

  • cereal (breakfast is not a problem)
  • beans on toast
  • homemade pizza with veg sauce and cheese
  • cheese on toast
  • veg sauce on flatbread
  • fruit

Other meals I can sometimes get him to eat when covered in yoghurt, but not always.

He tends to eat snacks quite happily, which makes me think he's being fussy rather than it teething. If his molars were really hurting, wouldn't he refuse everything?

So, should I give in and let him eat snacky type things for lunch/dinner - houmous and breadsticks, toast, dried fruit etc combined with one of the meals above. Or should I persevere with the proper meals? I don't want to fall into the trap of only feeding him his 'safe' foods above.

Thanks in advance Smile

give him what he will eat I suppose, it all sounds good, at this point you want him to enjoy his food, get some nutrition and not make eating into a battle.
