Quick questions about drinking water

DD has only just figured out how to eat solid food (in case anyone recognises me in this are yet again, I'm struggling a bit with this whole weaning thing Blush) but I'm not sure what to do about water. She will drink it from a bottle, but not from any kind of beaker, we've tried a few and she thinks they are all toys. After she grabbed a glass from our hands we've got a doidy cup and she will take it to her mouth and 'sip' but barely any is going in, obviously. She is still taking over 30oz of formula at the moment, so I'm thinking more of when she stars dropping her feeds in a while. If anyone else has had this, should I keep going with water in a bottle, or persevere and see if she learns to take more from the cup?

How old is your dd? My Lo is 11 months and since weaning we have just offered water in one of those basic TT sippy cup with meals- only now is he he really getting to grip with drinking any of it rather than throwing the cup at the dog, pouring it all down his front etc. I don't give water in bottles (unless it is really warm weather) but I guess whatever works for you is fine X

Oops, that was in the title before I changed it! She's 7mo, a late starter on the food. So far I've only offered the bottle on really hot days, we've even had to resort to putting a tiny amount of baby squash in it to get her drink when we've been worried about her fluid intake. But I'm not keen on feeding her water from a bottle while eating, it kind of feels like that will just be confusing matters for her. Is it not a worry if she doesn't replace a milk feed with a decent amount of water?

I'd keep going with the cup rather than a bottle. It doesnt matter if she doesnt take much from the cup to start with as she is still taking plenty of formula. I second the Tommee Tippee first cup with the flip up spout - it can be used with the lid on and off.

My dd was exactly the same. I also used a drop of squash to encourage her. She now, at 11 months, takes her cup off me Sand drinks as much as she wants! Also got her back onto water, just in time for her first teeth poking thro! Don't worry... It all falls into place xx
