What are you feeding your 28wk/6.5 month old?

DD has been on solids for 4 wks. we're on 3 small meals a day. baby porridge for breakfast then baby rice with some fruit or veg or what we're eating whre possible. i roughly mash food so she gets lumps.

Today i took dd to be weighed, she was fine. The HV said she should be on finger foods by now, like toast. This seems a big jump after just 4 weeks. What are your nearly 7 monthers eating? What other fingr foods can i try? I ought to know as this is dc3 but the other 2 were a long time ago!

TIA

I started weaning at 6 months and didn't bother with purees, just went straight to finger foods. The first day she had banana for breakfast, split in half lengthways and long enough to stick out of her fist by about an inch. Then for lunch she had trout, roast sweet potatoes, onion and coiled carrots. All the foods were cut to chip size pieces so she could pick them up easily. We didn't introduce dinner for about a week. She's now 7.5 months and the only we eat now that she doesn't is bran flakes. She self feeds and if it's food that needs a spoon, we load it for her and she puts it in herself.

thanks i'd best get started then. DD can spoon feed herself (in a fashion) and eats most of what we eat except when we're being lazy and eating rubbish.
