DD is 27 weeks, so far EBF but she's now sitting up herself and doing all the other stuff she's meant to do before starting the BLW.
I really want to get started but am pricking it a bit about how to do it.
Anyone else starting and want to share stories/experiences/tops etc???

Don't forget the fb or baby centre dedicated groups. I started 2 months ago. It is dead easy, just relax and enjoy. Have you got the gill rapley books?

MrsHuxtable · 15/08/2012 08:12

I have one of them, the Cook book. Will have a look on FB.

Have you found www.babyledweaning.com yet?

I'll join! Dd is a bottle refuser who WAS weaned at 17 weeks because of calorie issues but she then completely refused all foods. Nothing for 6 weeks and now I am going to let her take the lead... This evening she chewed the end of a spoon with potato on (repeatedly) and tomorrow trying avocado... Grin with a sheet on the floor this time

DS is ready I think (6 months and one week).
What's everyone going to try this week?!

pjd · 20/08/2012 19:55

I started at the end of last week. DS is 25 weeks, sitting up on his own, doing the stuff he's supposed to be I think. So far he has tried porridge and weetabix for breakfast, various veg (carrot, broccoli, peppers), some fruit (apple, banana), and today he tried a beef sandwich for lunch and lasagne for tea. I say "tried" - there is very little actually being eaten, most of it is ending up on the floor - I don't think I realised just how messy it is and just how little goes in at first, despite reading it in the Gill Rapley book. It's got to be seen to be believed!!!

MrsHuxtable · 21/08/2012 14:22

We're on day 3. So far, I've given DD brocolli, carrot, avocado, rice cake, pita bread, lettuce and today a bit of Spanish Tortilla.
I also noticed how little she actually eats. She really seems to enjoy herself exploring the foods and rubbing it in her face but I think she swallows only about 2%. Avocado and rice cakes are ehr favourites so far.
AND we introduced the sippy cup. She loves, loves, loves it. But good God, yes, THE MESS!!!!

We've just tried a rice cake and it went down very well! Got cucumber for later too.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 22/08/2012 22:17

DD isn't quite there yet - 5.5 months and not quite sitting up or pincer gripping - but am taking notes for when she is.

Purplevi · 23/08/2012 01:39

Sardine sandwiches today, feel better he has finally had some fish!

cheekypickle · 23/08/2012 10:34

This really stressed me out! She eats bugger all! But she refuses the spoon (unless yogurt)

Any ideas of what to give?? I know you can give almost anything

OpheliasWeepingWillow · 23/08/2012 12:14

So far some success with celery, carrot, cucumber and humous.

If she is chewing a teether I take it away and replace with a vegetable stick Grin

And have discovered she will put a loaded spoon in her own mouth.

ShoeJunkie · 23/08/2012 18:15

DS is loving cucumber. Strawberry and banana were a bit slippery for him!

ShoeJunkie · 30/08/2012 09:34

We're enjoying melon here and rice cakes/bread sticks with things spread on/dipped in. Very messy though :)

Hi, DS is 26 weeks today and we started BLW last week as had been showing all the signs for a couple of weeks and we just got back from holiday so felt it was a good time to start something new. He is having a great time with it!
