H, I've been reading the thread on this topic from yesterday/ day before. We're taking this approach with DS who is 9 months now - been trying since he was about 6 months with varying success. Some days he seems really into it, chews on loads of stuff and seems to really enjoy it - other days he just flicks it all around the table & scrapes it off onto the floor! I find myself getting so frustrated I'm in tears - I know it's idiotic but I worry that he's taking soooooo long to actually eat much - even on 'good' days not much really goes down him.
I guess the real issue is I'm still bf and I want him to carry on having bm when I'm not with him - which is now 3 shortish days a week (2 x nursery and 1 x dad looking after him). I don't express enough on those days to make up what he drinks and the freezer supplies are looking low... 3 months ago I was saying to myself 'Ah well he'll soon be eating loads of solids and cutting down the bm' but not much sign of that yet!
My mum said to give him stuff off a spoon but he's not really interested in that either - just grabs the spoon(s) and bashes them on the table! (finds this hilarious of course)
Anyone else in a similar situation? Any tips for retaining your composure when he throws everything on the floor? Any heartening tales of 9 month olds who suddenly started troughing everything in sight?? Thanks, Alison
