Toast Toppings for blw baby

DD is 7mo and usually has at some point in the day half a slice of toast with a little no salt butter or Philly.

I don't know what else she can have.

We have peanut butter, jam, marmite, pate, melted cheese. Can she have all of these?

Also, she sometimes has eggy bread (just eggs and bread, nothing else with it) is that ok?

Anything you'd have bar honey (and whole grapes or nuts, but they'd just roll off the toast!) so yes, they're all fine Smile

My two ( 8mo) like cheese, marmite, houmous, squashed avocado, tuna mayo, sardines with sundried tomato paste.

GnocchiNineDoors · 30/07/2012 22:58

So could she have smooth peanut butter?

She's coming along so so well with the weaning, im really impressed by her Grin

Unless your family has a history of nut allergies, all nut butters are fine to give once over 6mo.

GnocchiNineDoors · 31/07/2012 08:55

Oooh great.

will try that tomorrow

She can have chunky peanut butter too Wink

any kind of squashed fruit is a big hit here, sesame paste, all kinds of cheese (bar gorgonzla, yuk) and the odd bit of sausage (DS's gone off meat, DP's not amused, bless him). DS actually licks the spread off the bread and then presents the bread again for more spread. Smile

Marmite is too salty, everything else (bar honey) sounds good.

gastonthebabyshusher · 03/08/2012 20:27

I used to mix up some cheesy scrambled egg with avocado, and tinned red salmon. It was a massive hit with DD.

Flisspaps · 04/08/2012 09:36

Even marmite is fine, in the context of a balanced diet overall. If its every meal, over a long period of time then it might be an
Issue.

BikeRaceRunningRaceNoSkiing · 04/08/2012 09:39

Marmite ok in small doses occasionally. Vegemite less salty.
BLW DD also has squashed banana on toast.

ceegeebee · 04/08/2012 16:28

Yes, I only give marmite once or twice a week (and really thinly spread like marmite should be!!)

Avocado mashed with banana, mango or pear, with a squeeze of lime through it if you like. Brilliant toast topping for babies imo.

I also do Philly topped with stewed berries. Just buy a bag of frozen berries and microwave small portions for about 30 seconds.

FreelanceMama · 04/08/2012 19:29

we've tried just hummous, mashed banana and mashed avocado so far. Also loved a pea and mint dip with pitta when out for lunch this week. V v proud.

Thanks for asking OP, it's good to hear ideas.
