I'd personnally avoid whole milk before 12m, but would be happy to give formula. It's certainly better than juice.

agree - you could give him formula

or fruit juice and water - just a teaspoon of apple juice or whatever in a cup of water

cows milk isnt recommended before 12mths

i thought formula would be too filling and put him off his next feed. how much should i let him have just a couple of oz or something?

Sounds right, my dd hardly drank anything with her meal at that age.

nailpolish · 07/03/2006 14:48

just let him have a drink of formula at mealtimes 2-4 oz maybe

and offer him water in between, he will drink it eventually Grin if you put a little fruit juice in it

jodie1984 · 07/03/2006 14:51

also sorry to be a pain in the bum but when should he be drinking his milk from a beaker, he has 3 bottle a day and will happily drink juice from a beaker.

i dont see anything wrong with ditching the bottles now

neither of my dd's had bottles for very long at all - for some reason i really dont like bottles (after necessary), and i gave my dd's beakers very early (6 mths)

nailpolish · 07/03/2006 14:54

sorry, should have been more clear, personally i think its fine to give milk in a beaker at 8 mths

jodie1984 · 07/03/2006 14:56

thank you ever so much, i have a week off work this week and i am on a mission, filled the freezer today and beakers tomorrow.

Whatever your ds is comfortable with is best. There's no rule that says give up the bottle at such or such age. My dd would only take juice from a beaker for a long time, and that was fine by me.
