Hello,
Can anyone recommend a bread that is good for babies?
Have been giving DS brown Warburtons and he seems to have been enjoying it but have just read I should be giving him white..what to do?!
Thanks for any tips x

Too much fibre, like brown bread, can cause problems as babies don't need as much fibre as adults.

With bread, I tend to limit it to no more than half a round a day. So if dd has cereal and fruit for breakfast, I might give her a sandwich at lunch. If she had toast at breakfast, I'd think of something else for lunch and dinner which wasn't bread based. This weekend she's had quite a lot as it's been her birthday party with sandwiches as party food. So yesterday was full of bread, today shes not had any!

I think I've commented on your other post about seeing their salt intake over all foods over a few days, rather than one particular meal. It's easy to worry about it as there is hidden salt in many foods, but you can't got too wrong if you are offering fruit, veg, protein and not cooking with salt either.

I'm so surprised I should have been giving white bread!
Any tips on which brands are lowest in salt?

Thanks for the other tips, will make sure we don't slide into the bread trap too often!

Hope your daughter had fun at her birthday party xx

I read that despite the fibre issue, you should give them wholemeal as it is hard to acquire the taste if they get used to white.

Action on salt (google with 'bread') did a survey of salt content in bread and have a table listing the content of several loaves. I can link to it in the morning if that helps...

That list is amazing! Really helpful, thanks so much x
