highchair you can push up to the table

DS's dietician (dairy allergic, poor growth) has suggested I get a highchair we can push right up to the dining table at our level so DS can eat alongside us.

Can anyone recommend one?

Thanks!

Phil and teds do one that bolt onto your dining room table, do t know if that's any help

OneLittleBabyTerror · 24/07/2012 11:12

I use the Ikea Antilop and just push the tray to the edge of the table. The tray is about the same height as the dining table. So it feels like we are all sitting around the same table. I think you can do this with any highchair with a rectangular tray, with a square or rectangular table. If your table is round, then how about the tripp trapp or the copies like babydan danchair?

MarianForrester · 24/07/2012 11:15

The ikea one is great. And you don't need to get the tray: we just pushed it in to the table.

CMOTDibbler · 24/07/2012 11:21

Yep, the Antilop will push under the table, or you could splash out on a Tripp Trapp. But for £15, try the Antilop first

Another vote for the ikea antilop. We used it for DD1 without the tray pushed up against the table for ages. Then got a Tripp trapp as an intermediate between high chair and real chair. She still uses it as a regular chair aged 5. DD2 now uses the ikea chair - with tray at the moment as she's too messy!

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 24/07/2012 11:22

Antilop!

Crimebusterofthesea · 24/07/2012 18:21

Antilop, Antilop, Antilop!

BertieBotts · 24/07/2012 18:24

Antilop, or fisher price booster chair as it straps to your dining chairs - can save space. (But potentially wrecks the chairs with dropped food if it's not wipe clean!)

RandomMess · 24/07/2012 18:24

Antilop Grin

Check the height against your table, if it's not going to work tripp trapp.

AmandinePoulain · 24/07/2012 18:26

I want an antilop but since they recalled a batch earlier this year they aren't in stock anywhere Sad. They are currently going for more than their original value on eBay! Angry

RandomMess · 24/07/2012 18:27

Really Shock

reddaisy · 24/07/2012 18:32

I got an Antilop from Ikea in MK three weeks ago so they might have some there. It is the best and cheapest high chair we have ever had.

AhsokaTano · 24/07/2012 18:40

Tripp Trapp chairs are fab. We have 2 which are still going strong now the DSs are 7 and 5 and I find them quite comfy too.

OneTwoOrThree · 24/07/2012 18:42

Antilop. No question. My best baby buy by a country mile Grin

GwendolineMaryLacey · 24/07/2012 18:43

Antilop :). Bought mine in Croydon last month. There's loads of them in stock.

LoonyRationalist · 24/07/2012 18:48

Antilop here too, I have a barely used tray as it was so much better just pulled up to the table.

Tinkerisdead · 24/07/2012 18:51

Amandine, i posted about that exact issue this week. The website shows they are out of stock in every branch but i got customer services to rung my store (coventry). They had 53 in the store and dh bought one home. I think it was on thursday. And i checked, it was manufactured after the january recall.

Tinkerisdead · 24/07/2012 18:52

And OP...antilop antilop antilop. Always. Best highchair in the world. I use mine without the tray when we all eat together.

AmandinePoulain · 24/07/2012 19:04

So it's a website issue and they do have them? Hooray! Grin We freecycled our old Chicco from dd1 and had planned on an antilop for dd2 whose arrival is imminent, I had a brief look at what else was available but nothing matched the antilop on price or practicality. You've made my day Grin

MarianForrester · 24/07/2012 22:59

If you're stuck, you can have my antilop; no straps left tho!

vj32 · 25/07/2012 12:20

We have a Chicco Polly which has 2 different height levels.
Much more comfy than an Antilop. (Horrible things!)

Tinkerisdead · 25/07/2012 12:47

And you can buy an inflatable cushion for the antilop to make it a bit nicer to sit against. But yep i promise ive only had my antilop a week so they def in the shops.

SummerRain · 25/07/2012 12:52

We got ds2 a Tripp Trapp and it was one of the best baby investments we ever made. He's 3.6 now and still uses it and it's a lovely piece of furniture. It'll be moved upstairs as a desk chair for the boys room in a few years so we'll get years of active use out of it.

The antilop is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen in my life! Looks like it takes up a lot of floor space too.

The Tripp trapp is adjustable height so you can position the child properly at the table, has a footboard so their legs aren't dangling and they sit correctly and when it's pushed in to the table when not in use only extends a few cm further than a normal chair would, great if you have a small dining area.

We also have the travel highchair that folds from Mothercare, and that is really good. You can adjust the height, use it with a tray or without and it fits on most chairs. And its only about £20.
