My baby is definitely ready for more than purees but I've flipping well lost my nerve in terms of finger foods - I'm terrified he chokes!

Is some gagging OK? I really don't like it when he does that as I worry he's choking.

Can someone pls give me any advice on suitable finger foods - he's a hungry little baby. I've tried easy things like avocado, mango and banana. What about cheddar cheese? Bits of egg etc?

Everything and anything as long as it is salt free and appropriate sizes. Cheese on toast in fingers. Egg if you know he isn't allergic scrambled, omelettes, eggy bread. Fusilli pasta or spaghetti are good with sauces. Pitta bread and hummus, baked potato slices with skin, roast dinners. I have given all these at 6 months. Gagging is fine, gag reflex is far forward and baby learns to control it.

If you are worried about choking have a look to see if your local Children's Centre or Red Cross do paed first aid.

As for the finger foods, it's pretty much what Purplexi says. You could see if your library has a copy of this book if you need some more inspiration or have a look at the MN recipes or have a look at these snack recipes Smile.
