Cool boiled water?

DS is just shy of 7m, and I offer him cool boiled water in a cup/sippy cup during meal times (as per the HV suggestion), but I was wondering, how long does it have to be pre-boiled water? When can they just have tap water? I'm loathe to offer him juice of any kind (we don't drink it anyway) for as long as possible, but it's a pain when we're out and I have to take the water with me (all sippy cups leak. ALL OF THEM!).

So is there a specific age when he can just have normal water?

I didn't bother with cooled boiled water from the first day of weaning. If the LO is eating all sorts of things, including fruit and veg presumably washed under tap water, what's wrong with tap water fro drinks?

I do filter mine with a brita water filter, but we all use it.

Thanks! That certainly makes it a bit easier!
