When to reintroduce the spoon?

My 10.5-month-old DS eats everything under the sun. We weaned at six months using purees for a couple of weeks, then things like rice and quinoa with thick sauces. He took to the spoon right away and fed himself, but lost interest at eight months, after which we fed him whatever we were having.

My question is this: when do I reintroduce cutlery? And should it be a fork or spoon? He will occasionally feed himself the odd spoonful of hummus or coconut butter, but that's about it.

I'd give him a fork and spoon and let him have a go while you feed him too. You could give him lots of finger foods too
