Greedy Boy

George is loving his solids and is on 3 meals a day. The problem I have is he is so greedy and has proper strops when his food is finished. i don't want to over feed him which I think you could easily do.

How much food should a 6 month old be having at one sitting do you think?

Hi, what are you giving and how much? Also how much milk is he having? My DS was the same, loved his food! He's now a real skinny 9 yr old! You'd never know!

Have you tried giving him his milk before his meals? He just needs to learn to recognise when he's full.

I fed mine about 4 tablespoons at six months, sometimes a petit filous or quarter of a banana for dessert.

I'm catering to my baby's appetite and getting him weighed monthly to check if his weight has fallen / increased / stayed on same centile.

Typical day as folllows;
7.30 - Breastfeed
8.30 - Breakfast around 2 tablespoons baby porridge with fruit puree or baby yogurt (whole pot)
12.00 - Breastfeed
1.30 - Lunch Approx 1 1/2 tablespoons fish pie or something like cheese on toast one piece cut into fingers. Either fruit as finger food or 1 tablespoon of fruit puree.
4.30 - Breastfeed
7.00 - Diner - 2 tablespoons cheesy carrot mash or other veg based puree, sometimes have some of what we a re having as finger food, may or may not have pudding

Doesn't sound like you are overfeeding to me. Fruit and veg based purée is very low in calories anyway. I think it's important to just go with what your DS needs-my DD(1yrs) has had periods where she's wanted to eat and breastfeed non stop it seems, it's usually a growth spurt and things settle after a fortnight or so. As long as he is gaining weight, roughly on the same centile, I'd not worry. HTH
