I am interested in finding out how popular BLW weaning actually is? Does anyone know of any surveys/stats around this area and all the press articles etc. say it is growing in the UK but don't have any stats.

Thank you in advance!

Hi Belmont I've read the BLW book (Gill Riply or something forgot name) and whilst I thought it all made sense and sounded good there is a lot of quoting 'anecdotal evidence', and very very little actual research.

I'm going for the BLW and its working ok, but the scientist in me would love to know some stats! Like, how risky is the choking as this is quite stressful... and how many are actually less fussy? And what are the real differences in obesity between purees and BLW? The author makes A LOT of claims about the benefits... Our local health visitors etc are really pushing it and the healthy start leaflets government leaflets promote it so there must be some real evidence to support it...isn't there???

I read a research article in the BMJ recently which may or may not have included some stats. Think the research team were based at Uni of Nottingham so maybe contact the author of the study?
