Hi, I've started Blw with my daughter and it's going pretty well! Only concern is that she seems to break out in little red spots around face and neck after she's had a feed sometime... I think it's most often when she's had butter and wondered if it was anything to worry about or just her skin being irritated by the greasiness...

Also, I'm currently feeding her after a breast feed (staggering it a bit) but wondered at what point people would recommend the solids before the boob (if that makes sense)

Any advice or thoughts appreciated x

My ds got similar spots after tomatoes which was a reaction to the acid. He's grown out of it now. He was ff, but had solids at my meal times which wasn't linked to his milk times.

I think the red spots sound like a slight skin allergic reaction. Like babybouncer says, it's most commonly caused by acidic food like tomatoes, oranges, and even strawberries. Just keep an eye on what you've given your DD.

As for milk time, DD is bf and I'm very relaxed about schedules. We basically don't have one at all! DD was bf whenever she wanted boobs. We have our meals together whenever it's around meal time and DD wasn't asleep. (She never used to sleep more than an hour at a time, so it's easy to eat around it). She just demands less and less over time. I think it's around 11mo when I dropped all the day feeds. But then I was back at work FT at that time, so I was only feeding during the day in the weekends. I just offered food and water whenever she demanded food to replace the bf. DD was eating heaps from around 9mo. If your LO aren't eating much, I'd be reluctant to drop the feeds. I guess what I'm saying is just follow your LO's lead.

Have you had a look at the BLW site? Smile

Thanks for this... Will check out the site. Looks good. And thanks for advice about feeds... Was just trying to figure out whether to offer boob as main or pudding (if that makes sense) at meal times. We will figure it Out as we go I guess. She seems to be enjoying eating - and I guess that's the main thing!

Thanks again to you all x
